Photo Techniques is all about providing easy to follow, yet highly useful photography tips, tutorials, video lessons, visual aids, interviews with professionals, and much more to the aspiring photographer.
Who Am I?
My name is Al Sanchez and I created this site a few years ago as a place where I could release my newly written book, Photo Techniques: How to Take Great Photos. Since then I’ve also started writing articles, tutorials, and posts covering a wide range of photography topics as well as begun releasing visual learning guides as well as other forms of instruction.
My basic goal is to make learning as easy and effective as possible through a wide variety of resources.
My Journey…
I got into photography first through a deep interest in filmmaking. I always wanted to make films when I was younger. I then attended film school and realized that my “passion” for filmmaking was not actually correct. I hated the filmmaking process and was really only drawn in for the visuals. The atmosphere. The mood. The “mise en scene”.
It is from here that I completely quit filmmaking and focused on photography.
Photography is an amazing art. There’s the technical expertise required while also the creative and personal that every photographer brings to the table.
My Mission
I personally believe that anybody that wants to badly enough can become a great photographer. Photography is completely teachable and learnable by those that want to learn.
History of Photo Techniques
I started photo techniques as a simple website that sold an eBook titled “Photo Techniques: Take Great Photos”. The basic idea was writing a book that provided photography tips and techniques for composition and how to use a camera correctly.
Free Photo 101 Guide
Instead of the eBook, I currently offer a free Photo 101 eBookPhoto 101 eBookalong with many other eGuides and lessons that supplement it. If you’re a beginner this is where you’ll get the most out of this site. And even if your a more advanced photographer I’m sure you’ll get a few things out of it. The lessons that are included get more advanced as the weeks go by and my focus goes more from technical to artistic and expression through photography.
